Material SHear Testing

Understanding the amount of weight that a structure can support is vital, especially to know the shear strength of the materials that are applied to the structure. In engineering, shear strength is the strength of a material or component against the type of yield or structural failure where the material or component fails in shear. Material shear testing through the DIC is performed to establish what the shear strength of a material can handle, measuring the maximum shear stress that may be sustained before a material will break, fracture or crack.
